In my last post, I examined three alternate theories that have been proposed in an attempt to explain away the resurrection of Jesus Christ. That there are alternate theories at all highlight the impact that Jesus has had on history. Something monumental happened almost 2,000 years ago that continues to affect us today, but what was it? Was it a myth, a misunderstanding, an attempt to gain power by a band of men? The resurrection of Jesus Christ is, and has been, the most hotly debated event in human history. Depending on who you talk to, this event is either a source of great inspiration and hope or the source of a wicked deception and the single greatest lie ever told. I’d like to take the next couple of posts to examine some of the theories about what happened after Jesus was crucified to see what best explains the evidence. What if Christianity were false?

I was watching a podcast recently where a university student asked a very interesting question: “If Christianity were proven false, would you still be a Christian?” That question, along with the instructor’s honest response of “no” was quite convicting and caused me to do some honest reflecting. “If Christianity were proven false, would I still be a Christian?” Because I value following truth, I eventually came to the same honest conclusion; I couldn’t continue to believe in Christianity if it were decisively proven to be false.   Continue reading “What if Christianity were false?”
